Shelby Sandford

Registered Social Worker

It takes courage to reach out for support, especially with someone you don’t know yet - thanks for being here. If you’re experiencing challenges related to identity, anxiety, depression, trauma, or find yourself grieving a death/nondeath loss, I strongly believe healing happens in relationship; with others and ourselves. People have the innate capacity to process experiences and achieve personal growth when provided the right supportive environment. My role is to promote this inner healing process by co-exploring your experiences and perceptions and holding nonjudgmental space, so you can understand yourself with compassion. First and foremost, my practice is strengths-based and client-centered, meaning you are the expert on yourself and your life story. I would be honoured to work alongside your inner wisdom towards the solutions you’re seeking. I work from a holistic perspective, acknowledging the interconnectedness of the mental, physical, and spiritual self.

“Our lives are like the islands in the sea, or like trees in the forest. The maple and the pine might whisper to each other with their leaves…But the trees also commingle their roots in the darkness underground, and the islands also hang together through the ocean’s bottom.”

- William James
