Judy Basmaji
Registered Social Worker
Often telling your story can be challenging…
I’m Judy, and many of the people I work with are navigating anxiety, sadness, stress, or feeling stuck in relationships or past experiences. You may be carrying trauma, self-esteem challenges, or a sense that something needs to change, even if you’re not sure where to begin. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. Together, we’ll explore what’s getting in the way and find compassionate, practical steps forward.
Therapy doesn’t promise overnight change, but over time, clients often discover greater clarity, resilience, and self-compassion. I’m here to help you feel less alone and to support you as you build a life that feels more balanced and meaningful.
Experience
I hold a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Western University. I’ve supported clients across private practice and community crisis settings, working with individuals facing anxiety, low self-esteem, attachment patterns, and relational challenges.
My work is grounded in evidence-based frameworks and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience, culture, and story.
Client Focus
I work with adults and couples (18+), supporting individuals who are navigating relationship issues, anxiety, identity concerns, grief, life transitions, depression, cultural identity experiences, and adjustment stressors. I also work with highly sensitive people (HSP) and support refugees and immigrants exploring identity and belonging.
Types of Therapy
My approach integrates Attachment-Based and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and culturally sensitive practices. I also incorporate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) when helpful. Our work will always move at your pace, tailored to your needs and grounded in trust and respect.
Issues I Support
I support clients navigating relationship challenges, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, life transitions, spirituality, grief, cultural identity, adjustment after immigration, and the experiences of highly sensitive individuals.
More than just my work
I love exploring new places, reading, walking through nature, listening to podcasts, and spending time with the people I love. A quote that inspires me is by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi:
“It is how we choose what we do… that will determine whether the sum of our days adds up to a formless blur, or to something resembling a work of art.”
I would be honoured to support you in shaping the artwork that is your life.
Let’s Connect
If you’re ready to understand yourself more deeply, strengthen your relationships, and move toward greater calm and clarity, I’m here to walk alongside you. You’re welcome to book an appointment, and together we’ll begin your journey of healing and growth.
