Anthony Igbinedion
Registered Social Worker Psychotherapist
Hi, I’m Anthony, a Registered Social Worker Psychotherapist, bringing nearly two decades of experience in understanding and guiding people through their emotional and psychological challenges. Life throws challenges our way that can often feel like uninvited guests, disrupting our peace and demanding attention. Like a proverbial mother-in-law who takes over the kitchen, these challenges can be intrusive but also hold potential for tremendous growth.
Professional Background: I graduated from the University of Western Ontario and the University of Windsor, and I have dedicated my career to providing clinical support primarily to men facing life and health challenges, as well as to individuals and couples navigating complex emotional and psychological difficulties.
Therapeutic Approach: My practice is rooted in a relational and person-centered perspective. I utilize a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Integrative Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and insights from Neurobiology. This eclectic approach helps clients understand their wounded and protective parts, develop skills for emotional integration, and pivot away from mental traps that hinder well-being.
Core Philosophy: I firmly believe that the wounds we carry, while challenging, can lead us to profound discovery, growth, and freedom. Mutually satisfying relationships are vital for emotional health, and my goal is to empower you to transform these challenges into wisdom that enhances your life.
Client Focus: I work with individuals, couples, and youth aged 14 and older, helping them address issues like anger, anxiety, depression, addictions, relational conflict, PTSD, as well as feelings of shame and guilt.
More Than Just Work:
- I have a passion for traveling and immersing myself in new cultures.
- Relaxation for me might include enjoying a cup of tea with some croissants while watching a soccer match—though the relaxation part depends on the game!
- I draw inspiration from Henry David Thoreau’s words: “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”
Let’s Connect: If you’re ready to approach your psychological ‘guests’ with curiosity and courage, I’m here to guide and support you. Book an appointment today, and let’s explore the wisdom and growth that awaits you on your journey to healing.
