Kerri Phillips, RP (Qualifying), CCC, R-DMT

People often grow up hearing “use your words” or “help me understand” when it comes to expressing their feelings, as if feelings can be easily translated into words.
Sometimes people have trouble making complicated emotions “understood” in words. This means that people often find it hard to tune into how they feel and instead go right to how they think or, more often, how they “should” think. I use movement, somatics, mindfulness, and emotion-based processing to help sort out big feelings, understand emotions when they are beyond words, and process thoughts and feelings through the mind and the body. I empower people to listen to their own bodies, instincts, and impulses to know themselves, know how to cope, and know how to heal. I strive to help clients connect their body and mind so they can.

Experience:
Kerri is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master’s in Dance/Movement Therapy. Over the past 5 years, they have worked in different hospitals, homeless shelters, and group practice settings dealing with issues including anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation, and specializing in Queer issues and identity. They also are a meditation and yoga teacher focused on empowerment and embodied understanding.

Client Focus: children (starting at 7+), teens, and young adults (up to 29)
Types of therapy: creative arts therapy, dance/movement therapy, psychotherapy
Issues: anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, identity development, emotional
regulation, mood dysregulation, grief & loss, BPD, ADHD, and LGBTQIA+ identity.

Starting therapy can feel daunting for many clients. They may doubt its effectiveness, feel pressure to be further along in their journey, or struggle to envision a clear path forward. This is especially true for those who process information in unique or non-linear ways, making it even harder to navigate traditional therapeutic approaches.

I offer a tailored, holistic approach that is responsive to each client’s individual needs, experiences, and goals. I work with each client to adapt the therapy process in a way that honors their unique thinking and learning styles.

By fostering a warm, supportive, and trusting environment, I aim to help all clients feel at ease, empowering them to move forward with confidence, clarity, and a sense of agency in their journey.

Experience:
Veronica is a Registered Social Worker with a Master Degree in Social Work and undergraduate degree in Disabilities Studies from King’s University College. With over eight years of experience, she has worked across a range of local agencies, specializing in supporting individuals with diverse mental health challenges and those who are neurodivergent. Veronica’s background in Disability Studies has deepened her understanding of the unique needs and strengths of individuals with different ways of processing and experiencing the world. In addition to her professional work, Veronica has volunteered at several organizations, including serving on the board of directors for a children’s mental health agency, where she contributed to strategic decision-making and community outreach initiatives.

Types of therapy: CBT, MBCT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Strength-based therapy and Applied Behaviour Analysis

Ambita Sen, M.A., M.Sc., RP

Welcome! I’m Ambita Sen, a dedicated therapist with dual master’s degrees in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, Canada, and Organizational Psychology from Aston University, U.K. My practice is centered around a deep commitment to understanding and addressing your unique challenges through a holistic and personalized approach.

What problem do you strive to overcome?

Problem: Clients are sometimes apprehensive about the type of relationship they can have with the therapist. They are uncertain if they can fully open up and express their issues and whether the therapy will help.

Solution: I approach each client as an individual with the desire to provide them comfort by approaching their issues holistically. Then, in collaboration with the client, I am able to identify and agree upon the therapeutic process that is attuned to their specific issues, needs, and what they desire to achieve from therapy.

Result: I strive to create a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment and value the importance of the therapeutic relationship so they can move forward with ease.

Experience: Ambita is a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychotherapy from Yorkville University, Canada, and a Master’s degree in Organisational Psychology from Aston University, UK. She has vast experience in treating Trauma, including Acute Trauma (sudden grief, car accidents, serious injury, sexual assault, natural disasters, and witnessing a violent event), Chronic Trauma (domestic violence/ongoing abuse, prolonged bullying, exposure to war and combat, and exposure to repeated natural disasters), Complex Trauma /C-PTSD (attachment wounding, childhood trauma, healthy development of stress response system, ability to understand, communicate, and regulate emotions), and Complex Trauma with dissociation (depersonalization, derealisation, and dissociative amnesia).

Ambita is also experienced in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), borderline personality disorder (BPD), relationship distress, loss and grief, managing anger, and treating individuals with terminal illnesses and caregivers. As a couple’s therapist, Ambita has helped couples with sex and intimacy issues, rebuild trust, strengthen attachment, improve communication and conflict resolution, and better understand relationship dynamics. Ambita is keen on helping clients with sleep issues and sleep-related disorders and is completing her Integrative Adult Sleep certification.

Before becoming a Psychotherapist, Ambita spent over a decade working as an Organizational Psychologist. There, she gained experience counseling employees regarding job performance, career-related issues, and workplace skills. She participated in various organizational restructuring initiatives.

More than just my work: I was fortunate to grow up in an open and equitable environment that inspired individuality while providing the protection and sense of security of a collective environment. This helped me relate to Herman Hesse’s saying, “Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.” Varied dance forms and music from around the world have attracted me since a young age, bringing me peace and joy. I also love cooking, yoga and meditation. These are aspects of my inner sanctuary.

What can I expect from my first session?

You can look forward to a welcoming and comforting experience with a therapist who’s a great match for your needs!

We know that taking the first step into therapy might feel a bit overwhelming. It’s completely natural to feel a bit anxious about opening up to someone new. That’s why our therapists are dedicated to making your first session as easy and reassuring as possible.

Before you come in, we’ll send you an email with all the details you need to set up your account and a link to an intake form through our secure booking system, Jane. Filling out this form before your session really helps, as it gives your therapist a good starting point to understand what kind of support you’re looking for and how to make the most of your time together.

Plus, we’ve put together a handy Guide to Starting Therapy and a collection of Therapy Tools just for you!

And if you’re wondering how to get everything set up, check out our quick video guide that walks you through preparing for your first session. We can’t wait to meet you and get started!

How can I determine which kind of therapy is best suited for me?

At your initial consultation here at London Trauma Therapy, we’ll take the time to really get to know you and what you’re hoping to achieve with therapy. It’s all about understanding your unique situation and figuring out together which therapy approach fits best with your life and goals. Sometimes, what might have been suggested to you before isn’t quite the right fit—and that’s totally okay! Your therapist is here to explore the options with you, helping you discover the most effective and comfortable path forward.

Think of this first chat as a friendly, open conversation where you can share openly and learn about the different ways we can support you. We want to make sure that the therapy you choose feels right for you, personalized to meet your needs. We’re here not just to guide you, but to listen and adapt our approach based on what will help you the most…

Is a free 15-minute consultation available before I book a session?

A complimentary consultation call  is a fantastic way to connect with a therapist and get a feel for their style and approach before diving into therapy.

This is your chance to share a little about yourself, what’s bringing you to therapy, and ask any important questions you might have for your potential therapist.

While there’s no formal limit to how many Meet-and-Greets you can book, we recommend keeping it to two or three. We know that too many choices can sometimes be overwhelming, and our Care Team is here to help guide you through the process.

If you’d like help matching with a therapist, you can fill out our quick matching questionnaire, and we’ll offer a personalized recommendation.

If you have a consultation call booked, here is a handy video on how to best prepare for your call in order to make the most of your time!

How can I choose the right therapist at your clinic?

The most important factor for success in therapy is finding a therapist who feels like the right fit. Here’s how we help you do just that.

Research shows that the key to effective therapy isn’t necessarily the therapist’s approach, background, or even their years of experience. The real game-changer is whether you feel connected and understood by your therapist.

Here are some signs that you’ve found the right fit:

  • You feel heard and understood.
  • You don’t feel judged, ashamed, or embarrassed.
  • The focus is on you and your life.
  • Your therapist introduces new perspectives that resonate with you.
  • The pace feels comfortable and suited to your needs.

Our Care Team is dedicated to helping you find that perfect match. We take the time to connect with you one-on-one to get a sense of what kind of support you’re looking for. By filling out our Questionnaire, you can share your preferences and let us know what kind of therapist would be the best fit for you. It’s your therapy journey, and your voice matters in choosing the therapist who feels right for you.

At London Trauma Therapy, we have a diverse team of professionals with a wide range of experiences and specialties, ready to meet your unique needs.

Not sure where to start? Our Care team is here to help guide you through your options! Feel free to reach out to us at info@londontraumatherapy.com, or call us at 226-777-7702. We’re here to make sure you feel supported every step of the way.
