Your Body To Always Talking To You

So many of the painful experiences that you have experienced have left their mark on you not only emotionally, but physically.

You might find yourself searching for information on somatic therapy if you are experiencing chronic stress and anxiety, where persistent worry, tension, and a sense of being overwhelmed dominate your daily life.

Trauma and PTSD, whether from a single event or ongoing situations, can disrupt your sense of safety and well-being. Depression and emotional numbness, marked by feelings of hopelessness, lack of interest in activities, and emotional detachment, can be debilitating.

Physical symptoms of stress, such as headaches, muscle tension, digestive issues, and fatigue, often accompany emotional distress. Relationship issues, including struggles with intimacy, communication, and trust, can stem from unresolved trauma and stress. Lastly, you might feel stuck, with a pervasive sense of being unable to move forward in life, feeling trapped by past experiences.

What is Somatic Therapy?

Somatic therapy offers a holistic approach to healing by focusing on the connection between the mind and body. This approach helps release trauma held in the body, allowing you to feel more at ease.

By tuning into bodily sensations, you develop a greater understanding of your emotional and physical states. This therapy helps reduce stress and anxiety by teaching effective ways to calm your nervous system and manage stress responses.

It also improves emotional regulation, providing tools to handle emotions better, leading to more stable moods and reactions. There are physical health benefits as well, such as alleviating stress-related symptoms like chronic pain, tension, and fatigue. As you heal, your ability to connect with others in meaningful ways improves, leading to better relationships. Additionally, somatic therapy fosters a sense of empowerment and resilience, equipping you to face life’s challenges with confidence.

Benefits of Somatic therapy and Somatic Experiencing

Engaging in somatic therapy can lead to profound and lasting changes. You can expect greater emotional freedom, experiencing a release from the grip of past traumas and emotional burdens. Increased vitality, feeling more energized and alive as stress and tension diminish, is another benefit.

You will cultivate a deeper connection with your body, promoting overall well-being and improved mental clarity. With a calmer mind and balanced emotions, you’ll find it easier to focus and make decisions. Healthier relationships become possible as you enjoy more fulfilling and authentic connections with others.

At London Trauma Therapy, we are committed to guiding you through this transformative journey. Our experienced therapists utilize evidence-based somatic techniques to support your healing process, helping you to rediscover a sense of peace and vitality in your life.

Anxiety & Depression

Feeling overwhelmed, on edge, or weighed down with sadness? You’re not alone. Anxiety and depression can make even the simplest things feel like a mountain to climb. Therapy provides a supportive environment to explore these feelings, understand their roots, and discover new ways to find calm, joy, and balance.

Grief & Loss

Loss can shake us to our core, whether it’s the death of a loved one, a relationship ending, or life not turning out as expected. Therapy is a gentle space to process your grief, honor what you’ve lost, and slowly find a way to move forward with the love and memories you carry.

Life Transitions

Big changes can be exciting, but they can also bring stress, uncertainty, and fear. Whether you’re navigating a career shift, moving to a new place, starting a new chapter, or adjusting to something unexpected, therapy can help you process these transitions and find your footing as you embrace what’s next.

Substance Use

Struggling with substance use can feel like you’re caught in a cycle that’s hard to break. In therapy, we’ll look at the underlying issues fueling the addiction, explore healthier coping mechanisms, and help you reclaim control over your choices so you can build a life that feels more in alignment with your goals and values.

Eating Disorders

If thoughts about food, body image, or weight are consuming you, therapy offers a non-judgmental place to talk about it. Together, we’ll explore what’s really going on beneath the surface and work on building a healthier relationship with yourself, your body, and food, leading to a path of healing and self-acceptance.

Relationships

Relationships can be the source of our greatest joy and our deepest pain. Whether you’re dealing with family conflict, friendship struggles, or challenges in your romantic relationship, therapy provides tools to improve communication and strengthen connections.

At your initial consultation here at London Trauma Therapy, we’ll take the time to really get to know you and what you’re hoping to achieve with therapy. It’s all about understanding your unique situation and figuring out together which therapy approach fits best with your life and goals. Sometimes, what might have been suggested to you before isn’t quite the right fit—and that’s totally okay! Your therapist is here to explore the options with you, helping you discover the most effective and comfortable path forward.

Think of this first chat as a friendly, open conversation where you can share openly and learn about the different ways we can support you. We’re here not just to guide you, but to listen and adapt our approach based on what will help you the most…

Is a free 15-minute consultation available before I book a session?

A complimentary consultation call  is a fantastic way to connect with a therapist and get a feel for their style and approach before diving into therapy.

This is your chance to share a little about yourself, what’s bringing you to therapy, and ask any important questions you might have for your potential therapist.

While there’s no formal limit to how many Meet-and-Greets you can book, we recommend keeping it to two or three. We know that too many choices can sometimes be overwhelming, and our Care Team is here to help guide you through the process.

If you’d like help matching with a therapist, you can fill out our quick matching questionnaire, and we’ll offer a personalized recommendation.

If you have a consultation call booked, here is a handy video on how to best prepare for your call in order to make the most of your time!

How can I choose the right therapist at your clinic?

The most important factor for success in therapy is finding a therapist who feels like the right fit. Here’s how we help you do just that.

Research shows that the key to effective therapy isn’t necessarily the therapist’s approach, background, or even their years of experience. The real game-changer is whether you feel connected and understood by your therapist.

Here are some signs that you’ve found the right fit:

  • You feel heard and understood.
  • You don’t feel judged, ashamed, or embarrassed.
  • The focus is on you and your life.
  • Your therapist introduces new perspectives that resonate with you.
  • The pace feels comfortable and suited to your needs.

Our Care Team is dedicated to helping you find that perfect match. We take the time to connect with you one-on-one to get a sense of what kind of support you’re looking for. By filling out our Questionnaire, you can share your preferences and let us know what kind of therapist would be the best fit for you. It’s your therapy journey, and your voice matters in choosing the therapist who feels right for you.

At London Trauma Therapy, we have a diverse team of professionals with a wide range of experiences and specialties, ready to meet your unique needs.
